Jason VanWormer, LMSW
I specialize in working with people who have hit a point where stress or mental health symptoms are actively interfering with their day-to-day routines. When your regular habits start to feel difficult or uncomfortable to manage, the first priority in our work is finding solid ground and concrete validation—the reassurance that what you are experiencing makes sense, and that it can be safely managed and reduced. I know it takes a lot of guts to hand your private struggles over to a stranger. Because of that, I make sure that whatever you bring into the room is met with total respect, zero judgment, and the absolute highest level of care.
My background includes nine years of working in public housing, inpatient psychiatric care, and community mental health. These spaces taught me that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for mental health, and that everyone deserves an exceptionally high standard of ethical care. Working with individuals daily in public housing gave me a front-row seat to the actual, real-time obstacles of treatment, as well as the incredible growth that happens when someone finds the right plan. Because of this specific background, I don’t look at therapy as a place to just talk indefinitely; my focus is on breaking down complex, overwhelming struggles into smaller, more surmountable pieces that we can actively tackle together.
Whether we meet in the office or online, my role is to act as a trusted guide who helps you build stability and regain a firm sense of control over your life. My ultimate goal is to help you realize your own capacity to navigate these challenges, proving that you have the potential to manage them successfully. There is a powerful, decisive moment in this work when a client has that sudden epiphany: “Hey, I can actually do this.”
Being part of that turning point—where you take total ownership of your path and move forward with confidence—is exactly why I dedicated my career to this field.
